The Commonwealth Map - Base Map (KYDGI) publisher: Kentucky's GIS community description: This is a simplified viewer for The Commonwealth Map. This single service exhibits nearly two decades of collective GIS efforts in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Many agencies have pooled talent and resources to create and distribute these critical base GIS layers. The Commonwealth Map - Kentucky Explorer (KYDGI) publisher: United States Geological Survey description: The National Map is a consistent framework for geographic knowledge needed by the Nation. It provides public access to high-quality, geospatial data and information from multiple partners to help support decisionmaking by resource managers and the public. The National Map Viewer (USGS) publisher: Kentucky Division of Geographic Information description: Corporate boundaries in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Incorporated Cities (KYDGI) publisher: Kentucky Division of Geographic Information description: The data included in this Internet Mapping Service contains a set of geodetic control stations maintained by the National Geodetic Survey. Each geodetic control station in this dataset has either a precise Latitude/Longitude used for horizontal control or a precise Orthometric Height used for vertical control, or both. Geodetic Control in Kentucky (KYDGI)	Geology: publisher: Kentucky Geological Survey description: Linking to this online database will show publications and maps in the KGS list of publications that pertain to the geographic extent of your map. Many titles can be viewed online or downloaded. KGS Publications (KGS-tabular) publisher: Kentucky Geological Survey description: This internet map service provides geologic maps and related information compiled by the Kentucky Geological Survey. Detailed (1:24,000-scale) geologic maps can be viewed for all areas of the state. Only areas highlighted by orange rectangles on the index map have lithologic and economic descriptions, cross sections, and diagrams. Available for explanation. Remaining areas are being added as time permits. KGS Geologic Map Service (KGS) publisher: Kentucky Geological Survey description: This is a link to a derivative map on the Geologic Map Information service which displays the geologic units symbolized as lithologic units. Detailed (1:24,000-scale) lithologic maps can be viewed for all areas of the state. Areas highlighted by orange rectangles on the index map have lithologic and economic descriptions, cross sections, and diagrams. KGS Lithologic Map (KGS) publisher: Kentucky Geological Survey description: This map shows locations of cores and rock or cuttings samples on file at the KGS core facility. Identifying information is provided to assist with gaining access to the materials at the facility. Core and Sample Holdings Map (KGS) publisher: Kentucky Geological Survey description: This site provides descriptive information about core and sample holdings at the KGS core facility. Core Library Holdings Data (KGS-tabular) publisher: Kentucky Geological Survey description: This site is a part of the KGSGeoPortal, and will display photos (from the KGS database) of geologic and landscape features that are located within the geographic extent of your map. KGS Photos (KGS-tabular)	Energy: non-mining energy related information publisher: Kentucky Geological Survey description: This site provides information about coal exploration drill holes on file at the KGS. Descriptive information about the wells is provided, along with detailed down-hole descriptions, coal seam summaries, and graphic strip logs. Users can download data in a delimited file. Coal Borehole Data (KGS-tabular) publisher: Kentucky Geological Survey description: This is a link to the Coal Information map layout on the Geologic Map Information service. It shows the extent of coal beds, the locations of coal boreholes and coal thickness measurements, and faults from the KGS database. Coal Information Map (KGS) publisher: Kentucky Geological Survey description: This site provides information about coal quality data on file at KGS, including proximate, ultimate, physical properties and trace element analyses. Users can download data in a delimited file. Coal Quality Data (KGS-tabular) publisher: Kentucky Geological Survey description: This site provides information about coal thickness measurements on file at KGS. These data are generally surface observations at outcrops, high walls, and road cuts, but may include some data from drill holes and underground mines. Users can download data in a delimited file. Coal Thickness Data (KGS-tabular) publisher: Kentucky Geological Survey description: This site provides listings of oil and gas wells and associated information. Users can download well header information, and view documents, including geophysical logs, for each well. Oil and Gas Well Data (KGS-tabular) publisher: Kentucky Geological Survey description: This is a link to the Petroleum Geology map layout on the Geologic Map Information service. It shows the locations of oil and gas wells on a topographic base map, oil and gas fields, structural contours, and faults from the KGS database. Mining: publisher: Environmental and Public Protection Cabinet, Department for Natural Resources and Kentucky Mine Mapping Initiative description: This map service shows the outlines of active coal mines documented by the Kentucky Revenue Cabinet. Mine polygons that have state file numbers assigned have links to a report of detailed information about the mine, as well as scanned images of engineering drawings for the mine. Rectangular boxes indicate the locations of scanned maps for which no mine polygon has been created. These areas may or may not have mining activity. Available Coal Mine Maps / Active Mines (KMMI) publisher: Environmental and Public Protection Cabinet, Department for Natural Resources and Kentucky Mine Mapping Initiative description: This map shows the outlines for all coal mines documented by the Kentucky Revenue Cabinet. Mines are separated on layers according to coal bed. The identy tool provides summary information about mines, but not all areas are linked to the Mines and Minerals database or scanned mine maps at this time. A project is under way to complete map digitization over the next two years. Known Coal Mined Out Areas / Historical Mines (KMMI) publisher: Environmental and Public Protection Cabinet, Department for Natural Resources and Department for Natural Resources and Division of Permits description: Shows locations of existing and proposed surface mine permits and mine shafts. Some attribute information provided by identity function. Surface Mining Information (KDNR-DSMRE)	Water: publisher: Kentucky's GIS Community description: This map viewer allows users to view flood information in their community. The site is currently a mix of old and new datasets and will be in constant migration to all new DFIRM Data as it becomes available here in Kentucky. Flood Prone Areas (KYDGI) publisher: Kentucky Geological Survey: Groundwater Data Repository description: Shows locations of wells and springs in KGS online well database. Provides links to the lithology and casing reports, as well as county ground water atlas publications. Groundwater Map Service (KGS) publisher: Kentucky Geological Survey: Groundwater Data Repository description: This site provides information about springs in Kentucky that are on file at KGS. Spring locations and basic descriptive information are given. Users can download data in a delimited file. Groundwater Springs Data (KGS-tabular) publisher: Kentucky Geological Survey: Groundwater Data Repository description: This site provides information about water wells drilled in Kentucky that are on file at KGS. Well locations and basic descriptive information are given, as well as detailed lithology and casing reports. Users can download data in a delimited file. Groundwater Well Data (KGS-tabular) publisher: Kentucky Geological Survey: Groundwater Data Repository description: This is an interactive map service which gives users the ability to map the same water quality data that is found in the groundwater-quality data search. Groundwater-Quality Map Service (KGS) publisher: Kentucky Water Resource Information System description: The interactive GIS tool is intended to provide the public and those involvved in watershed planning, assessment, hydrologic-design, and permit-review with reliable and reproducable hydrologic information at user-selected stream site in Kentucky. The principal hydrologic data are a result of a cooperative project with the KY Division of Water with data layer contributions from other KYGEONET partners such as the KY Geological Survey and the COT/DGI. Hydrology of Kentucky (USGS) publisher: Kentucky Geological Survey description: This is a link to the Karst Potential map layout on the Geologic Map Information service. It is a derivative map which displays the geologic units symbolized by karst potential. Karst potential is a based on lithologic characteristics and shows the tendency for geologic units to develop or have karst features such as sinkholes, springs, caves, or other solution conduits. Karst Potential Map (KGS) publisher: Kentucky Water Resource Information System description: To provide an ArcIMS image service of Kentucky's Critical Base Map Layers and various thematic layers necessary for use by applicants and review staff. Can be used as a backdrop image within the ArcGIS or web-based environments. Provided in the Kentucky Single Zone projection. KY e-Clearinghouse Mapping Portal (WRIS) publisher: Kentucky Watershed Watch/Kentucky Geological Survey description: This map service allows users to view and search sampling sites from the Kentucky Watershed Watch program in each of the eight major river basins in Kentucky. KY Watershed Watch Sampling Map/Database (KRWW) publisher: Kentucky Water Resource Information System description: This image service and the associated HTML Viewer application allow for access to information regarding proposed water infrastructure improvements in the Commonwealth. Proposed Water Infrastructure Projects (WRIS) publisher: Environmental and Public Protection Cabinet, Department for Natural Resources and Department for Natural Resources and Division of Permits description: Shows water quality sampling locations associated with surface mine permit areas. Identity tool provides analytical results for site. Surface Mine Water Monitoring Data (KDNR-DSMRE) publisher: Kentucky Water Resource Information System description: This image service and the associated HTML Viewer application allow for access to information necessary for Water Management Planning in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, specifically Wastewaster Related Issues. Both existing and proposed wastewater infrastructure, Facility Planning Areas, and other associated datasets are included. Wastewater Mapping Portal (WRIS) publisher: Kentucky Water Resource Information System description: This image service and the associated HTML Viewer application allow for access to information regarding Water Infrastructure in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Water Infrastructure (WRIS) publisher: Kentucky Water Resource Information System description: This map shows features related to public water supply systems, including wells, springs, dams, USGS gauging stations, surface water sources, water service areas and proposed water supply projects. Water Management Planning (WRIS) publisher: Kentucky Division of Geographic Information description: This ArcIMS Service and its associated viewer are just one component of the Kentucky Watershed Modeling Information Portal (KWMIP). KWMIP is a web-based portal that provides watershed model input data and this particular viewer shows a subset of thematic data that relates to and is useful in the field of watershed modeling. Watershed Modeling Information Portal (KYDGI) publisher: Environmental and Public Protection Cabinet, Department for Natural Resources and Department for Natural Resources description: An interactive basin map. More detailed information is revealed by "Zooming" into the map (with the "magnifying glass"). "Identify HUC11" produces links, at the bottom of the map, to a table and narrative information about each subwatershed. Watershed Viewer (EPPC-GIS)	Transportation: publisher: Kentucky Transportation Cabinet description: The Kentucky Six Year Highway Plan IMS site provides the public access to active highway project information. The site shows active project locations and their phases throughout the state. Project information provided includes project type and description, work phase, current spending and contact information. Active Six Year Plan Projects (KYTC) publisher: Kentucky Transportation Cabinet description: This site is a part of the KGSGeoPortal, and will display geotechnical reports from KYTC project areas that pertain to the geographic extent of your map. Geotechnical Reports (KYTC-tabular) publisher: Kentucky Transportation Cabinet description: This site provides a variety of infrastructure layers, primarily related to transportation. Land-Use Planning: services that are specifically directed towards land-use planning publisher: Kentucky Geological Survey description: This map service provides information about geologic rock units and soils for general planning and development. The geology is derived from Kentucky's 7.5-minute geologic maps, and soil information from the NRCS SURGO data. Expected ground conditions for each material is given in tables accessed with the identy tool. Links to related reports are given. Many counties have incomplete data, because data are still in preparation. A vegetation map of Kentucky and predicted terrestrial vertebrate species distribution layers were also developed by the KY_GAP Project. This stewardship layer provides information about the location, ownership, management, and conservation status of public and semi-public lands in Kentucky. GAP Land Stewardship (KYFWIS) publisher: Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife description: This online map provides information about hunting and fishing access sites in Kentucky. Gives details and directions for each site. Hunting and Fishing Access Sites (KYFWIS) publisher: Kentucky Department of Parks description: To provide an ArcIMS image service of Kentucky's State Parks for use as a backdrop image within the ArcGIS or web-based environments. Provided in the Kentucky Single Zone projection. State Parks (KYPARKS) publisher: Kentucky Division of Geographic Information description: This ArcIMS Service and associated viewer highlight the Commonwealth's rich Recreational Trail Resources.
